When Beth had heard that the Carnival was coming to Hogsmede she couldn't help but squeal excitedly. She wanted nothing more than to run down there right away, but she'd had to wait a few days. Finally, the wait was over, and she'd spent the better part of an hour getting ready to leave for Hogsmede, and the bright lights of the Carnival. She couldn't wait, obviously, as she'd not been to a magical Carnival before. She'd been to muggle fairs with her parents, as her father had grown up in the muggle world, and after Hogwarts, her parents had moved to a muggle town in England to start their lives together. Her dad wanted to be close to the things he'd grown up with, and he showed Phoebe all around the muggle world, and helped her take everything in. Beth had grown up with the best of both worlds, as she lived in a muggle community, and her mother practiced it at home. Beth's mom had always been cautious and was very careful as not to be seen my the neighbors, as that was never a good thing.
She closed her eyes for a moment as memories flooded back of the smells of the candy-floss and the fresh doughnuts. She couldn't help but wonder what would be served tonight. Butterbeer was almost definitely going to be making a feature, she was sure of it, and glad of that too. Beth loved Butterbeer, from her very first taste, although she always had to work out after indulging in most magical world treats, as someone had told her once about all the calories. The last thing Beth ever wanted to do was loose her figure, as she wouldn't fit into all the great clothes that she had. Packing her trunk for Hogwarts had been awkward, as she simply didn't have enough room for everything, and her mother refused to do the spell that meant her trunk was basically bottomless, which was very selfish of her. There were reasons behind it of course, but Beth was too busy thinking about outfits to take with her, to listen to her mother's moral rant at the time. The outfits she'd chosen in the end were pretty epic, as displayed by the one she was currently wearing. Her dark and form fitting skinny jeans made her bum look great, if she did say so herself, and her boots with a good heel on them helped her legs look longer and her look taller. She had a lovely grey coat on in case it got cold, and some accessories, of course.
The click of her boots could be heard even louder than usual on the cobbles of the hogsmede streets. Her eyes scanned the little village, with a sparkle of indulgence and almost child-like enjoyment in them. The lights everywhere and the smells were very similar to the muggle fairs that she'd visited, but one very different scent caught her attention, and she followed it to a stand that was selling Butterbeer. "One Butterbeer please!" she said to the stall vendor with a smile. She dropped the correct coins into his hand and turned around, her drink now already on it's way to her lips. She took a sip and glanced around, thinking of where to go next, when someone caught her eye. Beth had seen him around school of course, and had heard a few things about him, but she couldn't actually remember talking to him. Without any good reason not to, she made a beeline for him, and when she reached him, a smile greeted him on her lips. "Hi, I'm Beth Campbell, I don't believe we have met, which is a shame, so I thought I would correct that." She reached her hand out to him, hoping he didn't mind her interrupting. "Are you enjoying the fair? It's a lovely evening for it!" her upbeat charm dripping from every word.
