history:
Born into two prominent pureblooded families, Damien Vincent Nott had all that he could ever want as a child. Their family lived just outside Godric's Hollow, away from any other houses so they wouldn't be bothered, but close enough that they could get somewhere without having to apparate. Not that apparating was a problem, but it was convenient to be just within reach of the town. He was born just a few minutes before his sister, and the two kids were enough for Theodore and Daphne Nott. It was clear from an early age that both children would be attending a wizarding school one day, so their parents started making their decisions early.
Right from the start Damien started forming his own sense of being. He frequently asked to join in on the grown-up conversations and when he was turned down he would make his way into the den where all of the books were held. His mother taught him to read very simple things early and he quickly progressed to more complicated texts, even if it took him forever to understand what was going in in the books. He seemed to be different from his sister in that aspect. He was taught by some kids from Godric's Hollow how to fly on a broomstick and play the wizard game Quidditch. He instantly fell in love with the game and played it in the back yard of his home with a few friends, often getting into trouble when they accidentally threw a ball through a window.
At age eleven he was ready for Hogwarts. There had been a debate about sending him to Durmstrang. Both of his parents thought that he would do better at that school than Hogwarts, though they were planning on sending his twin sister to Hogwarts without him. But Damien protested until he got his way and was soon buying the items that the list said he would require for the school year. Unlike most students to be, Damien was very excited about the text books and was reading them before school actually started. It was concerning enough that his parents were a little afraid that he would end up a Ravenclaw instead of attending Slytherin House like they had in their school years.
Their fears were unnecessary. Damien was sorted int Slytherin and was very happy about that. He developed his sense of pureblood superiority quickly anyway, so Slytherin was a great fit. His sister was also sorted into Slytherin, and that made Damien feel better. He had become very protective over his sister. They were very close and he didn't want anything bad to happen to her.
The first and second years passed in a very normal manner. Damien went to classes and got very good grades. He wasn't top of his class, but he did very well. He got his homework done on time even though a lot of the other students would joke about him for it. He had his close friends and he knew the teasing was all in good fun, so he would just shrug it off.
It was his third year that things started getting messed up. His father disappeared. Not even a note to tell his family goodbye. He often wondered if his mother had known anything about their father's whereabouts, but if she did she had never said anything to them. He became very angry at their father for abandoning the family and was forced to take over the male role of the house. While they had more than enough money to live comfortably, Damien felt as though he was no longer able to be a child. He was thirteen years old and had to have the emotional range of a rock. He was strong for his sister and did his best to keep things normal.
His father came back the next year and things went back to normal, for the most part. Theodore almost always had a guest over and it was usually someone of a questionable background. Almost every one of them was a pureblood enthusiast, which was admittedly not out of the ordinary. But it infuriated Damien that his father would leave and then come back a year later and act as though they were supposed to be okay with that.
Damien spent the next two years not speaking to his father. When he turned sixteen and was starting his sixth year, Damien finally found out what his father had been doing, and quite frankly it freaked him out. Damien might have been proud to be pureblooded and he might think himself better than those of a lesser blood status, but he never imagined on a future where his father would be a big part of bringing back the Death Eaters. It was this year that Damien learned his father expected him to join.
It's Damien's seventh year at Hogwarts and his father is determined to give him the Dark Mark, but Damien isn't so certain that's the life he wants.- - - - - - -

Skipping class was easy when your homework was already done. He told a student he wasn't feeling well and gave him the paper to turn in, then visited the hospital wing where he charmed the nurse into letting him spend the class period in his room before heading off with his book bag slung over his shoulder and into the Forbidden Forest, which he guessed wasn't really all that forbidden because no one ever really got into trouble for going in. At least, Damien had never gotten into trouble for it. Maybe it was because he was on the Quidditch Team. For whatever reason, being on the Quidditch Team could be like being a celebrity at times. Some things were just overlooked. It probably helped that his family was well known and that he was a Slytherin. Some people were still afraid of the Slytherin house. He thought that they should be more afraid of his family name, though.
In any case, Damien had promised to meet Jasmyn out in the Forbidden Forest because she was skipping class too. Damien had some issues but Jas wasn't one of them. As far as he knew, she didn't judge him (at least very harshly) for actually having his homework done early. Damien wasn't one to procrastinate and some might call him a teacher's pet for that sort of thing... if they wanted to lose their head, arm, leg, or other limb. Most of the time he was comfortable around Jas. There were only a select few people who Damien trusted enough to call a friend and this female was one of them. He only publicly associated with the best. Oh, he didn't mind fooling around with a half-blood, but as far as any friends went, they were all going to be pureblood or very close to it.
As Damien found his way into the trees, he looked over his shoulder. He wasn't going to go very far until Jas got there, so he chose a nice looking stump and sat down to wait. He didn't think she'd have much trouble getting out of class, but he wasn't in that much of a hurry either. It was just nice to be doing something... rebellious.
