It was exactly the sort of thing people had come to expect to see Damien doing. Oh sure, he was on the Quidditch Team so he was pretty athletic, but he wasn't the typical jock. He figured that at first he must have been an awkward site. His parents had been worried that he might not be place into Slytherin, and instead end up in Ravenclaw. He supposed that that might not have been such a bad thing, but he ended up in the house that his parents had been in anyway. Just another expectation that he'd had to meet. Something else to check off of the list. It wasn't so bad. His sister was in Slytherin, and he'd met Jasmyn and Laurel in Slytherin. And he did prefer to associate only with pureblooded witches and wizards (not that that held him back when he wanted to get some action). Slytherin house definitely had its perks.
That was besides the point. The point was that no one seemed to care that he was currently lounging on the couch in the common room, feet crossed and stretched out on the cushions, class books scattered around him. This was who Damien Nott was. And he figured that some of them might be grateful that at least someone had picked up a book in the Hogwarts years. He found it amusing to imagine a world where people came to him because they hadn't paid attention in school. If Damien was going to choose the Death Eater route, they should be more than glad to get a studious Slytherin graduate.
The book his eyes were glued to currently was the required text for Transfiguration. Sure, he was reading a chapter that wouldn't be covered for quite some time, but still, it was something he'd need to know eventually. He read for a few minutes longer and then hit the end of the chapter. He looked up and glanced around the room. The common room was empty, which wasn't unusual since it was the beginning of the year and the weather was nice. He had actually been outside earlier before deciding to get a head start on some reading. Now he realized he was alone.

The thought of being covered in one’s own sweat really wasn’t appealing, and the end result just wasn’t worth it. Sure, she kept in shape with gentle stretches and Quidditch, but all that really did was tone her body. It didn’t do much to create bulging muscles, for which she was thankful. In her opinion it was an unappealing look for a girl, and anything that made her look unappealing just wasn’t acceptable. However, she was on the Quidditch team, which meant she had to drop the whole dislike for sweat whenever they practiced, but that was different. She never got extraordinarily sweaty whenever they practiced, and it was mandatory, so it wasn’t that big a deal. But for her to go out on her own free will and get covered in grime was absolutely unheard of. And so it was with quite a few strange looks that the brunette dressed in her flying gear and shouldered her broom, walking with a certain purpose out of the common room and down to the pitch. Once she arrived at her destination, the Slytherin spent a good hour or so just flying around running the drills that the team had gone over the previous day. They weren’t complicated, and didn’t require much thought, which was exactly what Jasmyn was looking for. Over the past few weeks her life has spiraled into what most people would call chaotic, and she was basically powerless when it came to righting everything that had happened… which she truly despised. Jasmyn lived for the control she had over her own life, and to a certain extent, the amount of control she had over her friend’s lives. So when all that control had slipped from her fingers, the drills within which she had complete and utter control over were extremely refreshing. The hour of practicing flew by, and she was soon wandering back to the Slytherin Common Room, (after showering, of course). Upon entering the large room, Jasmyn spotted a rather familiar looking head peeking out from behind one of the sofas. Grinning, she quietly kicked her sneakers off, placing her broom beside them before padding over to the sofa and gently rolling over the side, settling in between Damien’s body and the couch. ”Hey…” She murmured, biting her lip. ”You looked lonely.” CODED BY ELECTRIC OF SHINE

If there was anyone that Damien could talk to, it was the girl who had just entered. Even if he was having feelings for Laurel that he couldn't quite explain, she still wasn't the person that Damien could relate as much to. Maybe that was because though Laurel was stunning and when they were alone she seemed completely at ease, but when they were in groups she focused a lot more on her reputation. Damien really did not like that about the girl. And the person he could probably (if he wanted to admit he actually had feelings for someone that went beyond the common friendship) tell all of that to was Jasmyn Morgan. They had been friends since Damien could remember. Since he had met her. She was a year younger than him, sure, but what did that matter? What was one year? He knew exactly what Jas would say about a year though. He knew that she was, maybe not worried, but concerned about how her last year might go. Most of the people she hung out with were in Damien's year. But he had promised to come back and visit. He couldn't just leave one of his best friends hanging around at Hogwarts by herself.
He watched her walk over. And what a sight that was. He didn't know where she had been (though he assumed it had something to do with a broom since she had carried one in) but he was definitely glad to see her. Their friendship was a little different than others, mostly because they had been intimate with each other and were actually capable of separating their friendship from their sex life. Which was really convenient, at least for Damien anyway. As long as neither of them were seeing anyone else, they knew exactly where to go if they needed that sort of thing. And who better to be that friend than Jasmyn? She was gorgeous and they were able to knock it off when they needed to. It was basically the perfect arrangement.
She fell between him and the couch and his arm naturally just wrapped around her shoulder. “Lonely? Me? Well, I guess you took care of that.” He smiled, closed the book, and gently tossed it to land on the table nearby. No one would ever be able to say that Damien Nott did not take care of his things. “What are you up to? I figured you would be out socializing or something.”

Jasmyn cared more than she liked to admit about this particular Slytherin; the pair had known each other for what seemed like forever, and despite having their ups and downs, were still quite close. She felt comfortable telling him things, and she was sure he felt the same way. Their relationship had become slightly more complicated when they decided to bring intimacy into the equation, but for some miraculous reason, everything seemed to have worked out. Hell, she was even comfortable hanging around him without makeup on! Now that really said something. However, in recent weeks, their little fling, (if it could even be called that), had become a tad bit endangered. Her damned fiancée had decided he wasn’t okay with her spending so much time with Damien, and they had had quite a few arguments about the Slytherin Quidditch Captain. At the moment, she’d gained control of the situation, and was still being ‘permitted,’ (Merlin how she hated that word), to speak to him. Not that Damien actually knew anything about her engagement… that was the one thing she refused to tell anybody. It would completely wreck her reputation, not to mention some of her friendships! So for the time being, she was going to keep it between herself and her fiancée. The brunette lightly kicked off her sneakers before wandering over to the couch, landing in a very comfortable position between Damien and the couch. Smiling, she snuggled up against his side, relishing in the familiar feel of his arm around her shoulder. This was really her favorite part of having whatever one would call their relationship; it didn’t always have to be touchy-feely, but also comforting or just plain sweet. Resting her head on his chest, she glanced over at the book, giggling slightly. ”Lonely aside from your book, that is.” As he tossed the book at one of the nearby tables, she attempted to read the title, but was unsuccessful. ”What were you reading?” She asked, looking up at him. As he spoke again, Jasmyn considered his words carefully before replying. ”I felt like staying in tonight.” She stated, lightly biting her lip. Truth be told, the only reason she’d decided to go out flying instead of out to The Three Broomsticks was because she didn’t feel up to seeing certain people… but unless Damien asked why she felt like staying in, (which she was relatively sure he wouldn’t), there really wasn’t any reason she had to tell him the real reason. ”Why’d you decide to stay here?”CODED BY ELECTRIC OF SHINE

His arm tightened around her slightly when she leaned her head against his chest. It really was great that they could be like this. Damien never had a real word for whatever the two of them were doing, but it worked out. Why put a label on it? Only a little part of him wished it was Laurel that he was holding. Jasmyn was Damien's best friend and he hated that he was thinking about someone else while he was with her just now, but it wasn't like they were really committed to each other. Theirs was intimacy out of convenience for the most part. He was pretty sure Thaddeus Lestrange would see it differently, and that was just fine with him. He owed no explanations to the Lestrange boy. On the other hand, he wondered if Laurel would see it the same way as Lestrange. He wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. He should have been completely indifferent on that matter. But the truth was that he would mind very much if Laurel thought Damien was the type to sleep around. He wasn't that kind of guy. Sure, he had had a few girls, but his arrangement with Jasmyn was one that prevented that.
“Oh,” he looked over at the book and shrugged, as much as was possible. “Just a book for Transfiguration. I was getting a head start on the reading.” He was pretty sure most people would have had a snarky comment about that sort of thing. Jasmyn might even reply with a smart-ass comment. She was one of the few people he'd probably let get away with it too. Damien wasn't always a nice person, and while he wasn't afraid to let people see that he was somewhat studious, he also didn't take much from other people in the way of attitude either.
Damien frowned a little at her explanation of why she was there. He felt like he wasn't getting the full story, but he was pretty sure that if she wanted to talk about whatever it was that had made her stay close to the school, then she would. He didn't feel the need to pressure her into anything. Though he had to admit to himself that he was a bit curious. He sighed at her question. “I just didn't feel like being... out. It's quieter here.” Truthfully he didn't know what had happened between Laurel and Thaddeus, and he wasn't sure he could handle seeing them together just now. But he hadn't even told Jasmyn that he'd started having feelings for Lestrange's girlfriend. He didn't even know how to bring the topic up. "But you're here now so I guess quiet is out of the question," he teased.

can’t risk losing in love again babe words: 503 outfit: click !tagged: damien/amber <3 notes: sorry for the wait ! Reliability was something Jasmyn always looked for in all possible friends and romantic interests; if you weren’t going to be there for her, she saw no reason to pursue the relationship. Damien was one of the few people she’d discovered was actually prepared to stick around for more than a few months, and because of that he’d become one of her best friends. She felt comfortable enough around him to actually talk about the things that made her upset, but the whole thing that had started up between Laurel and Thaddeus wasn’t one she felt the need to share. For one thing, Damien still wasn’t aware that she was engaged to Thaddeus, and she was also relatively sure that he was good friends with Laurel. Once combined, those two things amounted to one huge reason not to talk to him about it. And so it was really no surprise that she began to feel the smallest traces of guilt when his arm tightened around her. She didn’t enjoy hiding things from him, (almost as much as she hated having to ignore Laurel), but she just couldn’t bring herself to say anything. It would complicate things in a way she wasn’t ready to deal with, not to mention all the questions it would initiate. The brunette followed his gaze back to the book, her lips quirking into a teasing smile. ”I thought the professor told you that you aren’t allowed to read ahead anymore because you were putting the rest of the class to shame.” Her tone was joking, and she lightly nudged him with her arm. Jasmyn had always believed that Damien was a complete nerd when it came to transfiguration, and she regularly enjoyed teasing him about it. All her comments were made in a joking manner, and although he would’ve severely injured anyone else who poked fun at him as often as she did, their relationship assured that he would let her get away with it. Jasmyn nodded slightly as he spoke again, momentarily ceasing her lip biting as he hesitated before continuing his explanation. A small voice inside her head was saying that there was more to what he was saying than just simply wanting to stay in… but she didn’t want to push it. She chose to assume that if whatever was bothering him was important enough to impact him that he’d talk to her about it. ”That’s basically why I decided to stay in. Loud music and crowds get boring after a while.” The brunette explained, plastering a fake smile onto her face. It, (again), wasn’t the entire truth, but it would do. ”Oi!” She laughed, propping herself up on one of her elbows before flicking his nose. ”If I didn’t like you so much I might take offense to that!” Her tone was teasing as the familiar comfort of their back and forth bantering washed over her. It was nice to know that some things would always be there… especially when they were so much fun! CODED BY ELECTRIC OF SHINE
