julian longbottom
The cold gently caressed Julian's face as he took a step outside. He bundled himself up into a large, brown winter jacket and took a few feeble steps out the door of Hogwarts. Most students found themselves staying indoors because of this abnormal weather. It had been a long time since the last time the winters had been this cold, and this long. The temperatures were hitting so far down in the negatives that the Professors were even advising the students to stay indoors. They couldn't control what the students did however, or forbid it and Julian had never been a person that liked to remain inside.
The problem never seemed to be his Professors keeping a watchful eye on him it had to always be his father. On occasion he particularly liked having Professor Longbottom around because if he needed someone to talk to, or permission to do something...or sometimes, even when his grades were failing in other classes his father would be able to help him out. That was a bonus and he always found himself at his father's office. He also had the benefit of having his mum right in Hogsmead so when other students hardly ever got to see their parents during their Hogwarts years, Julian could find himself spending the day with his mum in the Three Broomsticks on Hogsmead trip weekends. Not to say he spent all day with her all the time because he was a seventeen year old boy, that often liked to go on dates, or hang around with his friends.
The problem with having parents around all the time however, left him with that watchful eye and on some occasions his father would embarrass him. Just last week his father lectured him out in the middle of the hallway for getting into a fight with a Slytherin. That Slytherin that had knocked another Gryffindor off his broom in Qudditch and even if his father insisted the kid didn't mean to, he had meant to...it was obvious, and instead of ever saying sorry the kid simply laughed about it. Laughed! It would be no wonder that Julian had gotten into his face. Then his father had to ruin it, and embarrass him, leaving the Slytherin to say aww, longbottom has daddy fighting all his battles Julian had to grit his teeth not to spit on him after that, and just walk away.
It was a wonder Julian had been able to escape outdoors without his father stopping him. But, he was grateful because as soon as that crisp air hit his face, as cold as it was he felt as if he could breathe easier.
Sitting against a tree that out looked the Black lake was where he found himself now. His eyes were closed; his hands rested in the warmth of his pockets, as he just let himself get wrapped up into nature.
