To be assistance to those in need (open)

The Ravenclaw girl was ready to get out of the castle. It felt like ages since the last Hogsmeade weekend and Jess was planning to make the most of it. Though her outfit wasn't particularly fancy, she thought she looked decent as she checked herself once over in the mirror. Maybe not fancy, but it covered the bruises and scratches that she was still recovering from after the last full moon, and it did look good on her. At least, she thought so. Her jeans hugged the right places and the plaid top over the black tank was just the right amount of casual, in her opinion. She breathed a laugh to herself. Jessica was, by no means, a fashionista. She didn't get into the whole brand names thin and her clothing was obviously more muggle than witch-like. She was well aware that as far as looks went, she couldn't even begin to compare to some of the other girls, even if she hadn't had the injuries that came along with being a werewolf. But she liked to look as good as she could.

One last look in the mirror and a pat to Mavrick's head (the darn cat decided it wanted to be up her bum the entire day, apparently) and she was off. She had expected the walk to the wizarding village to take forever since she was so excited to get into town, but it felt more like just a few minutes. Once she finally stopped long enough to catch her breath she realized that she had run to Hogsmeade instead of walked. Well, if people didn't think the werewolf thing made her weird already, the fact that she had run for apparently no reason certainly would do the trick. Oh well, might as well make the best of it. First she ran to the post office to send a couple of owls, one to Charlie and one to Kieran, to let them know that she was already out of the castle. That thought had completely skipped her mind when she had been getting ready. She didn't need to do it to check in, but she hated to think that her best friend and boyfriend would be waiting for her if they thought she was still asleep or something. Though knowing Kieran, he'd probably just get a Ravenclaw to give him the password and find a way to get into the girl's dorm.

With her owls sent, Jessica made her way to The Three Broomsticks. It was very cozy inside. She ordered a butterbeer and took a look around. She was about to just sit at the bar when someone caught her eye. A bright smile lit up her face and she walked over to Farrah. “Hey,” she said with a light tone. “Mind if I join you or are you waiting for someone?” She didn't want to get in the way of any of Farrah's plans.

It was nice to see the vampire. Jessica wasn't exactly fond of being a werewolf and it helped to be around someone who wasn't exactly entirely human either. She knew she was lucky, not everyone hated her for what she was. In fact, she knew that her boyfriend thought it was sort of intriguing, but she couldn't help but wish that she wasn't a werewolf. Her life would be a lot easier if she were just human. It was part of the reason she worked so hard as she did at her studies. She wanted to get a job at St. Mungo's and find an actual cure for her condition. She didn't want to have to disappear every full moon and wonder if the Wolfsbane Potion was going to work or not. Or as well as it could on her anyway. It was supposed to help her maintain some sort of humanity while she was, well not human. It didn't work that way. She was able to remember more when the night was over, but sometimes she wished that she could forget it. It would be easier on her mind, maybe, if she could just forget it. Or maybe she was wrong. Maybe the not-knowing what she'd done would be worse. Either way she was still a monster. She went out into the forest far enough that she didn't think she would run into anyone, but who knew anymore? The students weren't exactly as afraid of the Forbidden Forest as they should have been. And she still came back with bruises and cuts. It made her wonder what Kieran found in her that he liked. He could do a lot better.

Jessica's smile never wavered while all of this was going through her head. She took a seat and then a sip of her butterbeer. “Thanks. I left the school kind of early and I'm not really sure who all is going to make it out today. I was too anxious to get out of the castle.” She took another drink and listened to Farrah's question. “Oh, school is fine. I think my marks will be more than good enough to get into St. Mungo's. I'm very excited about it, actually.” She gave her friend another smile. “How are things with you? Have you been really busy?”

Jessi blushed a little at the compliment. Even though she knew she was a pretty smart girl (she was in Ravenclaw so she had to be) she was still a little awkward with compliments. She got them from her friends and from her mother. On their good days she got them from Kieran as well. But it was still a little awkward. She was a werewolf that had bruises more times than not, a brain dedicated to finding a cure for her condition, and had a pretty quirky personality from time to time. Not to mention her best friend Charlie was a sixth year Hufflepuff with a tendency to lean toward the naïve side who brought out the overly cheery side in Jessica. “Thanks. I really hope I can become a Healer and find a cure. I mean, I doubt I’ll find it alone or quickly, but it would be great for young werewolves to have a choice in being normal.” She didn’t mean for it to sound bad, but it just naturally came out that way. Still, the Ministry wasn’t too keen on counting werewolves as equals and Jessica knew from her own experiences that being a werewolf wasn’t great.

“Well be sure to send me an owl with the location of your shop so I can be a customer.” She gave her friend a smile and took a drink of her butterbeer. She was glad that Farrah was keeping herself busy. She liked that the girl was doing something that she loved. But really, what was the point in doing something that you weren’t passionate about? It only made sense that Farrah would do something with fashion.

Another blush came to Jessica’s face. “Yeah, I’m with Kieran again. And… I mean I think we’re okay. We’re pretty happy. Then again we’re always happy when things are going well. It’s when things get bad that, well obviously we get bad.” She bit on her bottom lip. “And you? Anyone in your life recently?” She gave Farrah another smile despite the fact that her cheeks felt warm.
